Ornamental Ceilings A Work of Art
Modern civilization calls it state -of -the -art. Everything we do today is about state -of -the -art. If we go back 2,000 years ago, ornamental work was created with the soul and the mind and two hands. And everything was done with precision, so today with all the state of the art, we still have no match. And if we pull the plug, we're out in the cold. Ornamental was and still is one of the most elegant decoration in the home, 5-6 hundred years ago, the more ornamental work the house had, the wealthier you were considered. About 1930, ornamental began to disappear because of the depression. Many of the old masters of the trade passed away. And they took thier secrets to the grave! Most of the masters of the trade kept the secrets in the family and passed it on from generation to generation. But even then, ornamenal was expensive because the master had to go from place to place to do their work. As a matter of fact, some of the masters had to come from Europe and it became very complicated because some of the work was done in the shop and some of the work was done on location. So ornamental work slowly disappeared and basically became part of history. After 1960, some companies began to manufacture imitation ornamental which they made from plastic or foam. These didnt look or feel like plaster. I dont think you can compare gold with copper. Today generations dont have a chance to learn the trade because there is no place to learn the real trade. Many masters were to greedy to share the secrets! So today, we took all those secrets and put them on this video to give a young generation the chance to learn all the skills and secerets. It took 20 years to simplify and design many patterns that the world has never seen.
